The aim of Waerenga Primary School is to teach its pupils the attitudes, knowledge, understandings and skills they need to continue learning throughout their lives. We are not zoned and there is no waiting list.
I would like to make a warm welcome to parents, caregivers and community members.
Waerenga School has been open since 1881. I have been fortunate to be the Principal since 1995.
Our school provides an excellent environment in which quality teaching and learning can occur. Our focus is around relationships, resilience, resourcefulness, reliability and being open minded. The school is the focal point of a very supportive local community.
We are a learning centre with an emphasis on numeracy, literacy and for students to be lifelong learners. We embrace a wide range of opportunities from our ICT, sporting, academic to EOTC programmes.
The strongest influence on a child’s achievement at school is the ability of staff to relate to the student and the factors in their life that happen outside of school. We have high expectations for our students and value academic and non-academic excellence.
As a school we believe ‘lead, do not follow”.
