Classes and Teachers

As our roll fluctuates in the 80 to 95 pupil range we have 5 classrooms in full-time operation.

There are five classrooms, resource room and library on the school site. All teaching spaces are air-conditioned.

Children in Room 3 will be Year 0 to Year 1. This is Mrs Lee's class and she has the role of the new entrant students. 

Mrs Dawn Flowerday is the teacher of the next class which is comprised of Year 1-2 students.

Room 4 is taught by Miss Katherine Murphy. She has a Year 2 - 3 class. 

Room 5 has mainly Year 4 children. Their teacher is Mrs Gina Rosendaal and Mrs Haley Curtis, and their room is the classroom adjoined to Room 4.

The senior class of mainly Year 5 and 6 students is situated in the main block just to the right of the main entrance, and is known as Room 1. These children are aged from about 9 to 11 years. Their teacher is Miss McIntyre.

Should you wish to discuss any matters regarding your child you are most welcome to do so, but it is advisable to have a prearranged time in order to avoid interruptions. You are also welcome to come along and observe the work of the class. Once again it is advisable to make prior arrangements in order to avoid coming when an ‘out of class’ event such as sports, film time etc., is on.

School Classrooms

We have four full time classrooms and one part time classroom (mornings only) in operation at Waerenga School.  These classes are:

Room 3   Navigators   This is our New Entrant room - 5 year olds - Year 0.

Room 2   Discoverers This is a Junior room with 5 and 6 year olds. Years 1 - 2.

Room 4   Explorers Another Junior room with students in years 2 - 3.

Room 5   Pathfinders  The middle school room which caters for our year 4.

Room 1   Trailblazers  Our senior room with years 5 - 6.

Room 3 - Navigators 

The motto for the Navigators is “FAIL - First attempt in learning”.

We are an inquisitive, enthusiastic bunch of year 0-1 learners. We are navigating our way through our new school journey. We are eager to learn the school routines and engage in our learning. We are encouraged to use our persistence and perseverance skills to attempt all learning experiences. We are reassured that we are in an environment where we can learn and grow from our mistakes. 

We have fun learning collaboratively with each other in our classroom and school wide, during various school activities. We enjoy being part of the Waerenga School whanau.
